Terms & Booking Conditions
Last updated: 6 May 2026
These terms govern bookings made with The Kailash Holiday — a division of The Everest Holiday Pvt. Ltd. (Tourism Licence 2838/072, TAAN Member 1586, Reg. 147653/072/073), registered in Kathmandu, Nepal. By submitting a booking you confirm you have read and accepted these conditions.
1. Booking and confirmation
- A booking is provisional until we receive your 30% deposit and a clear passport scan.
- On receipt of deposit and passport, we issue a written booking confirmation by email and start the Tibet permit and Chinese group-visa application.
- The remaining 70% balance is due in cash on arrival in Kathmandu or via approved digital method (eSewa, Khalti, UPI, bank transfer, card) at least 7 days before departure.
2. Permits and visas
- We obtain the Group Tibet Permit and Chinese Group Visa on your behalf. You must give us clear passport scans, recent passport-size photos and personal details at least 4 weeks before departure.
- Permits are issued by Chinese authorities and remain at their discretion. If a permit is refused for reasons not within our control, see clause 7 (force majeure).
- Indian pilgrims may enter Tibet on an Indian passport or on an Election ID with the Group Tibet Permit. Other nationalities require a passport valid for at least 6 months beyond the trip end date.
3. What is and isn't included
Each package's detail page lists exact inclusions and exclusions. Generally, the quoted price covers Tibet permits and Chinese group visa, all in-trip transport (vehicle/helicopter), accommodation on twin-share basis, all meals during the yatra, an English/Hindi-speaking guide, and oxygen support during the parikrama.
It does not include international or domestic flights to/from Kathmandu, personal travel insurance, gear, alcoholic drinks, tips, optional pony or porter hire on the parikrama, or any expense of a personal nature.
4. Health and fitness
- All routes (helicopter, overland, road) cross altitudes of 4,500 m or higher. The parikrama crosses Dolma La Pass at 5,630 m.
- You must obtain a recent medical clearance and disclose any heart, lung, blood-pressure, diabetic or pregnancy condition before booking.
- We may at our sole discretion refuse boarding to any pilgrim showing severe altitude sickness or unsafe medical signs. Onward refund in such cases follows clause 5.
5. Cancellation by you
- More than 30 days before departure: 70% refund of deposit (we keep 30% as permit and admin cost)
- 15-30 days before: 50% refund of total amount paid
- 7-14 days before: 25% refund
- Less than 7 days, no-show, or once visa is issued: no refund
Refunds are paid in the same currency and method received, within 21 days.
6. Cancellation by us
If we cancel a departure due to under-booking (fewer than minimum group size), we will offer alternative dates or a full refund. We are not liable for non-refundable third-party costs you incurred (e.g. international flights, insurance) — we recommend cancellable fares and travel insurance.
7. Force majeure (Tibet closure, weather, geopolitics)
The Sino-Nepal border, Mansarovar region and helicopter operations are subject to Chinese government policy, weather and natural events outside our control. If a departure cannot proceed because the border closes, permit issuance is suspended, airspace is grounded, an earthquake or landslide blocks the route, or any similar event:
- We will offer to reschedule at no extra cost to a future departure within 18 months, or
- Refund the unused, recoverable portion (we cannot refund permits or vehicles already paid out to third parties).
This is what is meant when we say in our FAQ that we are transparent about what is and isn't refundable.
8. Travel insurance
Travel insurance covering high-altitude trekking up to 6,000 m, helicopter evacuation, medical care and trip cancellation is mandatory. Please share your policy number with us before departure. We do not arrange insurance directly.
9. Behaviour and respect
Mt Kailash and Lake Mansarovar are deeply sacred. Pilgrims must respect Tibetan customs, avoid swimming in Mansarovar (locally prohibited), follow guide instructions during the parikrama, and refrain from political activity in Tibet. We may end a yatra without refund for behaviour that endangers the group or breaks Chinese law.
10. Liability
Our liability is limited to the booking amount paid to us. We are not liable for loss caused by third-party suppliers (airline, hotel, helicopter operator), force majeure, or personal injury arising from the inherent risks of high-altitude pilgrimage. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by our own negligence.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Nepal. Any dispute will be settled by mediation first; failing that, by the competent court in Kathmandu, Nepal.
