Can I book Kailash Mansarovar Yatra from outside India and Nepal?
Yes — we serve NRI pilgrims from the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, UAE, and 11 other countries. The Tibet Group Permit and Chinese Group Visa are issued from the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu, so it doesn't matter where you depart from. We accept wire transfer in USD, and our coordinator works extended hours to cover your timezone.
I have an OCI card and an American passport — which one to use for Tibet permit?
Use your American (or foreign) passport for the Tibet permit and Chinese Group Visa. OCI is not recognised by the Chinese Embassy for the Tibet permit; you'll travel on your foreign passport throughout. You can use OCI for the Nepal portion if you wish, but most NRIs simply use the foreign passport end-to-end.
Do I need a Nepal visa as a foreign passport holder?
Yes. NRI pilgrims on US, UK, Canadian, Australian, Singaporean, etc. passports need a Nepal visa on arrival at Kathmandu airport. Cost: $30 USD for 15 days, $50 for 30 days. Bring 2 passport photos and exact USD cash. Indian passport holders: no Nepal visa required.
How do I pay for the yatra from abroad?
Wire transfer in USD to our Himalayan Bank account in Nepal — full details sent after booking confirmation. International card payments via our HBL Mastercard gateway are coming soon (waiting on production credentials). For now: 30% deposit by wire to confirm, 70% balance in cash or wire on arrival in Kathmandu.
How does WhatsApp coordination work across time zones?
Our India desk coordinator works 9 AM – 9 PM IST. This covers: US night/early morning (good for night-owls), UK morning/afternoon (very convenient), Singapore/Gulf evening/full day (excellent), Australia evening (excellent). We respond to WhatsApp messages within 1 hour during business hours and within 6 hours otherwise.
Can I do a private NRI group yatra with my family from the US/UK/Singapore?
Yes — for family groups of 6+ pilgrims from the same country/city, we run private NRI departures with dedicated vehicle, dedicated guide, and customised itinerary. What about travel insurance for NRI pilgrims?
Strongly recommended. Your travel insurance must cover altitudes up to 6,000 m (the Parikrama crosses 5,630 m at Dolma La pass) — many standard policies cap at 4,500 m and won't help if evacuation is needed. World Nomads (US/global), SafetyWing (digital nomad-friendly), and Allianz (UK/EU) all offer high-altitude policies. Email us your policy details before departure for our records.
Do my Indian relatives in India need to be on the same booking?
No — but it's logistically easier if they are. We can book mixed Indian-passport + foreign-passport groups under a single Tibet permit. This is common for family yatras where parents fly from India and children from the US/UK to meet in Kathmandu. Document submission and permit processing handled as one application.
