Frequently asked questions

Indian pilgrims ask

How much does Kailash Mansarovar Yatra cost from India in 2026?
Costs vary by route: Overland 13-day group package from ₹1.8 lakh per pilgrim, 15-day overland from ₹2.9 lakh, helicopter via Lucknow/Nepalgunj from ₹2.9–3.5 lakh. All packages include Tibet permit, Chinese Group Visa, accommodation, meals, and English/Hindi-speaking guide. International flights from India and personal gear are not included.
Can Indian citizens travel to Mount Kailash without a passport?
Yes — Indian pilgrims can use a valid Election ID (Voter ID) instead of a passport for the Tibet Group Permit. However, you still need an Indian passport for international travel to/from Nepal. Most pilgrims travel on passport for simplicity.
Which Indian city has the easiest route to Kailash Mansarovar?
Lucknow offers the shortest route — direct flight to Nepalgunj, then helicopter to Hilsa and onwards to Kailash in 10–11 days. Delhi offers the most flight options to Kathmandu and is preferred by pilgrims from northern and western India. Gorakhpur is the most economical entry point for overland yatra via Sunauli border, popular with group bookings from UP and Bihar.
When is the best time for Kailash Mansarovar Yatra for Indian pilgrims?
The yatra season runs May to mid-October. Saga Dawa (May 31 – June 30 in 2026) is the most spiritually significant period — Hindu and Buddhist traditions agree this is when merit is multiplied 100,000 times at Kailash. July–August offers green landscapes but rain at lower altitudes. September has the clearest skies and stable weather, ideal for first-time pilgrims.
Do I need a Chinese visa for Kailash Mansarovar Yatra?
Yes — all foreign pilgrims (including Indians) need a Chinese Group Visa to enter the Tibet Autonomous Region. We arrange this as part of every package. The Group Visa is valid only for your specific yatra group and dates — it cannot be used for independent travel. Processing takes 4–6 weeks before departure, so book early.
How fit do Indian pilgrims need to be for Kailash Parikrama?
The 3-day Kailash Parikrama covers ~52 km at altitudes of 4,500–5,600 m. For helicopter yatra: minimal walking — suitable for pilgrims aged 60+ and those with mild heart/diabetic conditions. For overland yatra: moderate fitness required, 2–3 weeks of cardio prep recommended. Ponies and porters are available throughout the parikrama at additional cost. We provide oxygen support and a guide doctor on every overland departure.
What is the age limit for Kailash Mansarovar Yatra from India?
There is no official upper age limit set by the Indian government or Chinese authorities. We accept pilgrims aged 18–75 on standard overland packages, and up to age 70 on helicopter packages (subject to medical clearance). Pilgrims 60+ must submit a fitness certificate from an MBBS doctor. Children under 18 are not permitted on the Tibet permit.
How do I pay for the yatra from India?
Most Indian pilgrims pay in three instalments: 30% deposit at booking (to lock the Tibet permit slot), 40% one month before departure, and 30% balance on arrival in Kathmandu. We accept Indian credit/debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Rupay, Amex), UPI / Google Pay / PayTM (coming soon), bank transfer in INR or USD, or cash on arrival.
